i lost my rejection-letter-virginity

today i got my first ever rejection letter, and it fucking SUCKED. johns hopkins wrote me a shitty little letter being all like, no you can't come take your pre-med requirements at our program SORRY. i mean i guess that's reasonable -- the johns hopkins post bac pre-med program is probably the most comptetitive one in the country, and it seems like these programs are getting more and more popular. if i'm gonna get rejected, i guess i'm ok with being rejected by johns hopkins. still, i thought i was a pretty excellent candidate. i have an ok GPA from a really good school, a killer essay, experience working as a medical assistant, supposedly-wonderful letters of rec, and a totally bodacious bod. so what went wrong?

i'm gonna call the admissions department tomorrow to find out. what i'm really upset about is that it took them all of like a day to decide that i shouldn't be allowed in. that makes me wonder if my application was bad for some reason, and that none of the programs are gonna let me in. so stay tuned, i will keep shit up to date.

PS here's my nose

nose news

shit is starting to look acceptable, thank god. the swelling was actually getting worse rather than better because i have been doing too much stuff at work. i saw doctor berkowitz this morning though and the swelling is going down pretty quickly.

AFTER:

the secret? TAPE.

millie likes the tape. i do too. the swelling went down visibly after i had tape on my nose for like three hours this afternoon. excellent shit, man.

HELLA NOSE PIXXX

went a little nuts with the nose pictures. maybe i'm just getting used to it, but i think it looks better today, except for the horrible scab, which still sucks. please enjoy the glorious closeup of the scab!

its like i never even got a nose job!

so i went in today and FINALLY got that shit off my face, but right now i'm almost wishing i still had that cast on. at the moment my nose looks a lot like it did before the first nose job. i cannot believe its still this swollen after a week. i know it'll be fine, but today i was too embarassed to go back to work. on top of the fact that my nose is so swollen, its also covered in several very ugly white heads and a coat of oil that doesn't seem to go away no matter what i do. also, the right side doesn't seem to be closing up very nicely... its all scabby and nasty, with tons of dried boogery blood clinging to it. maybe some of this doesn't read very clearly on these pictures, but i took them with my laptop's built-in webcam.

feelin hella RHINOPLASTY

yo dudes, sorry for the lack of updatezzz lately. plenty of shit has happened, but i guess i found other venues for expressing my HELLA FEELINGS.

rather than updating on the crazy experiences of the last several weeks (months??), i'll just dive right into the present. i am currently lying in bed (not unusual) on painkillers (sort of unusual) with a cast on my nose (very unusual). yesterday i had my nose done for the second time. i'll explain:

i had my nose done when i was 17, after approximately four years of begging my parents. they finally agreed after my dad made some comments on my junior prom pictures, and the summer before my senior year, we went ahead with it. i wanted it to be as natural looking as possible, but less huge and jewish. it looked great and i loved it. then college happened, and maybe a little too much partying or i don't even know what. i do know that it looked like a completely different nose than it did when i was 18, and not in a way that i was comfortable with. the doctor, who happens to be a good family friend, had said from the beginning that he would re-do it if i was unhappy with it. yesterday he re-did it and today i'm bandaged and medicated. i will be bandaged and medicated until at least thursday. i forgot how gross and uncomfortable this whole process is.

anyway, here's the fun part: PICTURES!

ok so here are a few photos taken three days before surgery. notice how the nose looks different from different angles, and how, from the top, it looks TOTALLY FUCKED (that is the medical term)

aaaaand here are some photos of me, taken only moments ago

HUGE IMPROVEMENT, RIGHT GUYS?????

the gauze under my nose is there to catch blood, interstitial fluid, boogers, etc. it is even more fun than you might think. i change it about every two hours and it smells like onions. JEALOUS???
